Primitive Weapons Bear Hunting

Challenge your skills in the art of hunting through the use of primitive weapons. Bow hunters and those who like to use muzzleloaders will enjoy a challenging black bear hunting trip in Sunset Country. As bear hunting occurs in the fall in Ontario, you'll find bears in prime condition looking for food to accumulate the body fat they need to survive the winter. This often means a lot of big males, some large boars exceed 600 pounds in weight.

As black bear are strong large-boned animals bow hunters need to have the equipment with sufficient draw weight and draw length to take down a potentially large animal. A wounded bear is a dangerous bear so bow hunters should ensure the shot they take is certain to kill the animal. The Ontario Hunting Regulations guide has information on minimum draw weights, arrow and bolt requirements designed to ensure hunter safety and avoid the unnecessary wounding of animals. It also has important information you need to know to hunt safely and legally in Ontario. So come up and challenge yourself to what is arguably one of the best areas in North America to hunt black bear.
